Planning a wedding from abroad can prove to be a tricky task that many would not even attempt, but not Aileen and Eoghan. They said the main tools they used were the internet, their family and friends, and lots of patience. Aileen is not surprised that more couples are now coming home to get married, because “The Irish hospitality and wedding industry are extremely helpful and go out of their way to help wedding couples from abroad.”
Only 10 days after Eoghan proposed on The Great Wall of China, Aileen had found her dress of her dreams- a beautiful lace gown with intricate beading from Essense of Australia. She then had the train of her dress made into a veil, that was an idea she got from an online Forum. They chose royal blue as the theme for their wedding colours which was also carried over for the inscriptions on their wedding invitations.
How they met… they met at a house party in her house, Coogee, Sydney. Eoghan came to the party with a work colleague of his. The story goes – according to Eoghan – She introduced herself to him… twice!.
Their proposal… They went on a holiday to Beijing China and on day three of the trip went to explore the great wall. Aileen takes up the story “He took me to a quieter, unrestored section of the wall, which I thought was very dangerous and I wanted to head back. We decided to stop for a break and little did I think when I turned around from taking in the spectacular view, Eoghan would be there in front of me with a ring!”
They planned their wedding from abroad… The main tools used were the internet, family and friends and a lot of patience. More and more couples are coming home to get married due to the economic climate. The Irish hospitality and wedding industry are extremely helpful and have becoming more adaptive to requests from wedding couples from abroad. The assistance and support from Sheen Falls Lodge, was very helpful and many other vendors were contacted based on their recommendations. VideoCork proved exceptional even going as far as to taking the reservation for the day over the internet and then arranging for the payment method to be through paypal which is something which is almost unheard of in this industry.
